The Wadi Wurayah occupies a total space of 129 km2 and has been declared as a protected space by the Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS) and the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF). Wadi Wurayah has a rich population of few of probably the most uncommon and endangered species which embody the Arabian Tahr and the Arabian Leopard. The Valley can be home to roughly 300 plant species, 73 species of birds, 12 species of mammals, 17 reptile species and seventy four insect species. Most species exhibit distinctive variations to the cruel climatic conditions of the desert making it all the more exciting to the avid nature explorer. Along with its array of wildlife Wadi Wurayah houses a collection of remains from historic Arabia which embody Pre Islamic Tombs, Islamic Graveyards, remains of old settlements and Petroglyphs, some of which date back to 300 BC.
